Details
Fall is a wonderful time to hike along the Upper Deschutes enjoing cool Fall air, beautiful views of Benham Falls from multiple angles, and the relaxing sounds of the river. I hope you can join me!
Directions:
From Bend: Travel South on Highway 97 and take the Lava Lands Visitor Center Exit to the right. Continue past Lava Lands Visitor Center on Forest Road 9702 for approximately 4 miles.
From Sunriver: the nine-mile drive Northbound takes about 15 minutes via S. Century Drive, Highway 97, and Forest Road 9702.
Let's head back to the Upper Deschutes River for a beautiful, scenic 6.7 mile out and back hike starting at the Benham Falls East Day Use Trailhead.
This trail is rated easy online, but it leans more toward Moderate in my opinion. From the trailhead, we will walk half a mile towards Benham Falls. We will stop at the Benham Falls Overlook and then continue on about 3 miles past the falls. That will be our turn around point.
