🥾Hike Oregon Badlands Wilderness Ancient Juniper Trail 3.2 Mile Easy/Moderate

Trail : Oregon Badlands Ancient Juniper Trail accessible from the Flatiron Trail Head turn off on H****ighway 20 East.

The turn off is 16 miles East of Bend. The trail is a 3.2 Mile hike and is considered Easy/Moderate hike, because there is no shade and plenty of sand and lava rock.

This peaceful trail in the Badlands Wilderness is mostly a flat hike through sandy, volcanic terrain and surrounded by ancient junipers..

Know Before You Go**:**

3.2 Mile Round Trip w/ wide, sandy trails and volcanic rock. The sand can make it workout, and can be toasty as there is no shade on the trail. However, there is shade under large juniper trees if we need to cool down.

Forecast: Temperatures will be in the low 50s and it’ll be mostly sunny. It feels hotter than the temperature is out there, so I recommend bringing a short sleeve shirt, short or long sleeve T-shirt, or similar to keep you cool. I doubt if you’ll need a sweatshirt and certainly not a jacket.

What to bring**: plenty of water, hats, snack, and sunscreen. sturdy trail shoes or hiking boots. Poles are optional.**

Restrooms: UNAVAILABLE
****NOTE******If you have health conditions or have balance issues please reconsider hiking.

Everyone is responsible for finding their way to the trai. We will all meet in the Flatiron Trail Head Parking Lot @ 10:45 A.M. Be on time! We will start the hike promptly at 11 A.M. For safety, anybody who is late should skip the hike. There are different trails and I don’t want anybody to get lost trying to catch up to us.

I won't be arranging carpooling. Feel free to do that on your own. Let me know of any carpooling plans.

DIRECTIONS:

  • Drive East: Take US Highway 20 East (Greenwood Ave) out of Bend for approximately 16 miles.
  • Turnoff: Look for the Flatiron Rock Trailhead on the left (north) side of the highway, shortly after milepost 16.
