In order to attend this hike, please register at oregonwild.org/event/lookout-mountain-hike/ by 5pm Thursday, July 17.
Difficulty: Strenuous
Distance: 7 miles total
Elevation Gain: 1300 feet
Leader: Sami Godlove (Oregon Wild’s Central Oregon Field Coordinator)
Location: Ochoco National Forest
Lookout Mountain is the highest point in the Ochocos, providing views of the entire Cascade Range–from Mt. Rainier in Washington to Mt. Shasta in California–on a clear day. The hike up to the summit might be just as interesting and beautiful–massive old-growth ponderosa pines, wildflower meadows, gnarled ancient juniper trees, and abandoned mines can be found along the way.
