Monthly Meetup - August 2026: WordPress MCP: From Talking to Changing Your Site
Details
Introduction
Join us for our monthly WordPress Bengaluru meetup, an afternoon of talks, discussion, and networking with the local WordPress community. This time we are meeting in the heart of Bengaluru, on Church Street. Come spend a Sunday afternoon with fellow WordPress folks, trading notes on where AI actually fits into the way we build, and leaving with something you can try on your own site the same week.
Speaker & Topic
This month, Arun Shenoy, Senior Software Engineer at Bluehost, takes the stage with "WordPress MCP: From Talking About Your Site to Changing It".
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, gives AI tools a standard way to talk to an application, and WordPress now has one of its own. Pair it with the Abilities API, which describes what a site can actually do, and an assistant stops guessing at your site and starts working with it through capabilities you define. Arun will walk through what the WordPress MCP server is, how the Abilities API decides what an agent is allowed to touch, and how the two fit together. Expect a live look at the everyday work this speeds up: bulk edits, content and product updates, and pulling real answers out of your own site instead of digging for them. If you run a store or build sites for clients, this is the part where a long afternoon of clicking turns into a short one. Arun will also be honest about where this is genuinely useful today and where you still want a human in the loop.
Arun is a Senior Software Engineer at Bluehost. Across five years of building for the open web he has worked on block themes, migrations, plugin development, and performance, mostly on the parts people actually touch rather than the parts they read about. A lot of that work now runs through AI, though the interesting question was never whether a model can generate a site. It is what happens on the second edit, when someone wants to change one thing and keep everything else exactly as it was. That gap is where he spends his time. He contributes to WordPress, mentors, and speaks at community events. Away from work, he plays badminton, cricket, and the violin.
