Hike Haystack Mt. Wilmington, VT with Bennington and Brattleboro GMC sections

Details
Join us for a joint outing with the Bennington and Brattleboro GMC sections to the top of Haystack Mountain in Wilmington, Vermont.
The Mount Haystack hike is considered moderately strenuous. The trail is 4.1 miles out and back with ~1000 feet elevation gain to the 3445 foot summit of the mountain. From the top, there are lovely 180 degree views of the surrounding lakes and mountains.
We plan to start hiking at 10AM from the Haystack trailhead located in the Chimney Hill subdivision. As parking at the trailhead is somewhat limited, Bennington hikers will meet at the Bennington Recreation Center at 9:00AM to form a carpool to Wilmington. Brattleboro hikers will be meeting at the junction of Route 9 and Haystack Road (the entrance to the Chimney Hill subdivision) at 9:45AM to consolidate cars before driving to the trailhead.
The trail can be muddy and rough in areas, so sturdy hiking shoes or boots are recommended. Plan to bring water, a snack and lunch for the trip. Bug spray is recommended.
Dogs on leash are welcome.
If needed, we'll set a rain date for Sunday August 3rd which will be announced through Meet Up.
