RESCHEDULED: Spring Trail Work-Rt 9 North and South
Details
NOTE THE NEW DATE FOR THIS EVENT
Join us for our first trail maintenance day this year on the Long Trail/Appalachian Trail. We will split into two groups: one going south from Route 9 to Harmon Hill, and the other going north from Route 9 to Maple Hill.
We'll do light clipping, water bar maintenance and clear fallen limbs and smaller blowdowns. On the Harmon Hill side, we'll also be raking leaves off the staircase that initially leads up from Route 9.
The route to Harmon Hill is 3.4 miles out and back with an 1,128 ft elevation gain. The route to Maple Hilll is 4.2 miles out and back with 1,335 feet elevation gain. Both hikes involve rocky and steep climbs in the first 1/2 mile of trail.
Ending time is approximate. Your are welcome to join us for as little or long as you can.
The club has several loppers and hazel hoes to share around, but if you have your own favorite hand tools including hand saws, loppers or rakes, bring them along.
Meet at 9AM at the LT/AT parking lot on the north side of Route 9. Wear sturdy hiking boots or shoes and work pants; bring work gloves, rain jacket, water, lunch and snacks. We'll work in light rain, but if the forecast calls for heavy or sustained rain, we'll reschedule TBD.
