CAMERON STRACHAN

Cameron is a synthetic biologist who is passionate about expediting the amount of products available from engineered microbes. Over the past years, he has focused on inventing technologies for high-throughput genetic engineering and co-founding MetaMixis with Steven Hallam.

MetaMixis:

MetaMixis are among a global effort dedicated to decreasing our reliance on petrochemicals by transitioning to engineered microbial processes for the production of small molecules. This has brought about unparalleled success stories as the chemistry performed by microbes has limitless potential in improving process economics and product accessibility. MetaMixis is a collaborative effort that is heavily influenced by environmental genomics and synthetic biology to help build the next generation of engineered microbial processes. Currently, MetaMixis focuses on a proprietary platform that screens environmental DNA for the synthesis and secretion of targeted small molecules. We have applied this in developing several engineered microbes, solving problems in the fine chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.
