I'd be very grateful if members could make a £1 donation towards Meetup costs. For anyone who has gone 'cashless', it's possible to make a payment through PayPal using paypal.me/MartinJ1986 or jontiramsen1986@gmail.com and choosing the friends and family option.
Thank you!
This is a good time of the year to visit Ashridge with the added attraction of bluebells in Dockey Wood. We meet at ASHRIDGE HOUSE where there is ample car parking space. The route follows the Golden Valley for a short while before cutting back into the woods, past Sallow Copse and on to Ivinghoe Common before crossing Beacon Road. At the entrance to Dockey Wood, there may be an ice cream van where we can take a short break after viewing the bluebells. Back into the woods we can pick up the familiar trail of Duncombe Terrace which takes us to the visitor centre. There is the opportunity for a short toilet stop before picking up the route down Prince's Riding back to Ashridge House. The walk is approximately 5 miles and should not take much more than 2 hours. After the walk, we can visit the excellent Ashridge House cafe for refreshments.
Please be aware that the road to Ashridge House is off the main road and needs to be checked before setting off.
Please note that this walk is not led by a qualified leader and, as such, isn't covered by insurance. Please be sure to wear suitable boots and clothing. The organiser cannot be held responsible for any injuries, however caused. Members are expected to take responsibility for their own preparation and safety. Please be sure to make me aware if you have any medical conditions.
Dogs are welcome as always but please be mindful to keep them on leads for roads and around other animals.
If you are unable to attend please be sure to change your RSVP otherwise our departure will be delayed. My contact number is 07587867371.
