**THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO A LEAD ACTOR BEING UNAVAILABLE**
Support fellow Berkhamsted Social member the playwright James Kenworth and his new play about Outsider artist Madge Gill. A review says The Spirit Guide retains an element of mystery but also takes on the narrator’s part at the half way point, another compelling theatrical device on the part of Kenworth. She has a fine rapport with Pryce, who hold the whole evening together with a gutsy yet wryly humorous portrayal of a figure who must remain in some ways beyond rational explanation.
Starts at 7.30pm arrive in good time to find parking. Buy your £10 ticket here. Note, I will not be able to attend as it is Wine Club.
Madge Gill (1882-1961) was an outstanding exponent of mediumistic art and remains one of the foremost British Outsider (self taught) artists. Hidden away at home, she produced a seemingly endless wealth of unique artwork. While connecting to spiritualism, perhaps in response to her own psychological turmoil, she worked on her own terms. She claimed to be guided by a spirit she called "Myrninerest" (my inner rest) and often signed her works in this name.
