Midweek walk: The Plough at Cadsden, Chequers and Whiteleaf Hill

This walk is a bit out-of-the-way but well worth the trip as it's quite spectacular.

Walk Details

This is a 6.9 mile walk through a variety of countryside with some spectacular views and a glimpse of the Prime Minister’s country residence. Starting from the pub’s car park, we head north through Lower Cadsden and the Pulpit Hill Nature Reserve. We pick up The Ridgeway National Trail before heading east and passing Chequers on the way to Buckmoorend where there is the option of a short break at the cafe. We walk through woodland towards Little Hampden before picking up The Chiltern Way and Grim’s Ditch while heading westwards. More woodlands and the Icknield Way before emerging on Whiteleaf Hill where we can pause to enjoy the view. From the hill, there is a short trek back to the pub.

Once we return to Cadsden, there is the option to enjoy the hospitality at The Plough. The address for the pub is Cadsden Road, Cadsden, Princes Risborough HP27 0NB. There is quite a tricky turn off the main road and the car park is located after the pub.

Please note that this walk is not led by a qualified leader and, as such, isn't covered by insurance. Be sure to wear suitable boots and clothing. The organiser cannot be held responsible for any injuries, however caused. Members are expected to take responsibility for their own preparation and safety including adequate fluids, weather protection and a snack. Please be sure to make me aware if you have any medical conditions.

Dogs are welcome as always but please be mindful to keep them on leads for roads and around other animals.
