Midweek Walk: Ashridge, Clipper Down, Ivinghoe Common

This is a 5.9 mile walk which should take less than 2.5 hours through the Ashridge Estate woodland. We walk downhill towards Duncombe Farm before rising again to Clipper Down. We need to cross a country lane then descend through fields and on to The Coombe where we walk through dense woodland. There is a gradual rise before coming out of the woods and along Hurst Farm lane to re-enter Ashridge woods. A 30-minute walk back through Ivinghoe Common and Sallow Copse then we finish back at the visitor centre where we can have some refreshments at the cafe.

The address for the Ashridge visitor centre is Moneybury Hill, Ringshall, Berkhamsted HP4 1LX but be wary of SatNav directions which could lead you astray. The what3words reference is entrust.modifies.signal . The Google map should get you there and the visitor centre is well signposted from the B4506.

Please note that this walk is not led by a qualified leader and, as such, isn't covered by insurance. Be sure to wear suitable boots and clothing. The organiser cannot be held responsible for any injuries, however caused. Members are expected to take responsibility for their own preparation and safety. Please be sure to make me aware if you have any medical conditions.

Dogs are welcome as always but please be mindful to keep them on leads for roads and around other animals.
