Welcome to our Berk Worms 🐛 book club. Each month we all aim to read the same book from a particular genre and then meet to discuss it. We also then talk about other books we are reading. All are welcome!

Our book for discussion in April is a psychological thriller that’s been turned into a film. We are reading ‘The Woman in Cabin 10’, Ruth Ware’s second novel published in June 2016. It runs at approximately 352 pages and is available in all formats including Kindle and Audio Book. After the books success, a Netflix film was made starring Keira Knightley in the role of Lo Blacklock in 2025. Ware also wrote a sequel to the book called, Woman in Suite 11, published in July 2025.

About the novel for Discussion:

A PASSENGER IS MISSING...BUT WAS SHE EVER ON BOARD AT ALL?

This was meant to be the perfect trip. The Northern Lights. A luxury press launch on a boutique cruise ship.

A chance for travel journalist Lo Blacklock to recover from a traumatic break-in that has left her on the verge of collapse.

Except things don't go as planned.

Woken in the night by screams, Lo rushes to her window to see a body thrown overboard from the next door cabin. But the records show that no-one ever checked into that cabin, and no passengers are missing from the boat.

Exhausted and emotional, Lo has to face the fact that she may have made a mistake - either that, or she is now trapped on a boat with a murderer...

Critical views:

Barry Forshaw, wrote The Woman in Cabin 10 "bucks the trend of disappointing follow-ups", adding that it was "every bit as taut and provocative" as Ware's first book’ The Independent

' Scary and unsettling, it's' edge-of-your-seat stuff' The Sun

'A tense, moody drama set on a press trip that goes horribly wrong... a brilliantly claustrophobic setting' Sunday Times

'A twisty puzzle' Shari Lapena

'Terrifically tense' Good Housekeeping
