Pinnacle Sunset Hike
Details
Join us for a sunset hike from the Hamburg Reservoir up to The Pinnacle. These overlooks offer some of the absolute best views in Berks County!
We’ll hike together to Pulpit Rock. From there, hikers can choose to:
✅ Continue on to The Pinnacle
✅ Relax at the overlook and return the same way or by the easier road.
Plan on about 4-5 hours total if going to The Pinnacle. Sunset is at 6:53, so we want to get up there by ~6:15
Dogs are welcome if leashed and trail-friendly.
We’ll keep a friendly and flexible pace. New hikers and first-timers welcome!

Here are the trail details
**Pinnacle: ~**9.5 miles round-trip< ~1200 ft elevation gain. This is following the AT, not the road. Moderate: if you are use to hiking or running, this is not a hard hike, but it may be difficult for new hikers.
Pulpit Rock: ~4 mi,~ 900 fr elevation gain. There is a shorter route. The difficulty is about the same just shorter.
Both routes have a much easier gravel road on the way down.
This a sunset hike so please be prepared with:
- Appropriate hiking clothes and shoes
- Warm layer(s) for at the top and after the sun is down. A rain jacket or windbreaker is recommended.
- Snacks and water; optional picnic dinner/drinks for sunset!
- Headlamp, flashlight, or other reliable light (no cell phones!)
- Travel blanket, etc. might be nice for picnicking/weather.
