Gear Talk: Lightweight Backpacking
Details
We've all seen it (or even done it). Backpackers hit the trail with 90 liter expedition packs filled with 50lbs of gear. That's a heavy burden to shoulder, but it takes a lot of gear to be safe in the woods... or does it? You might not believe it, but I carried only 15lbs on my last 3-day trip (INCLUDING food and water)!
Come meet Gossamer Gear (http://gossamergear.com) Trail Ambassador Dan Bortz (AKA me, haha) for a look at some lightweight alternatives for your backpacking kit. Don't worry, not every alternative means an expensive purchase. I have a few FREE ideas, too! Beginners and Veterans can both benefit from this event! If you can't attend, you can find info and links on my blog (http://ulweekendwarrior.wordpress.com) to get you started!
If you are an experienced backpacker looking to lighten your load, contact me about a "Pack Makeover"! If you bring your gear to the event, I'll go through it piece by piece and give you (and the group) tips on how to lighten up! We'll only have time to go through 1 or 2 packs, so be sure to contact me about this in advance!
