Bury Lane circular via Compton, 10 miles, moderate

A circular walk from the Bury Lane car park via Compton and the Foinavon pub.

Walk details

This is a circular walk on mainly good paths. It starts by heading towards and under the A34. We’ll then take a left through a wooded section then right towards the Ridgeway, which we will follow for a short period before taking the path to Compton and our pub stop at the Foinavon. The lunch stop will be before the pub. After the pub we will walk through Compton before joining the path back up to the car park.

Unfortunately there is no public transport to this walk. Please feel free to use either our Facebook group (members only) or the comments section on the Meetup event page to arrange car sharing – there are usually members who are happy to help!

By car

Park at the free Bury Lane car park on the Ridgeway.

We will leave from the car park on the A34 side of of the road. Please note the postcode does not give an accurate location. Use the lat/long or Google maps.

Notes

• Please bring a packed lunch and a drink.
• It might be muddy – please wear suitable footwear.
• Please contact the leader directly if you are delayed on the day or can't find the group (find contact details on our website). We are unlikely to respond to Meetup comments or messages sent on the day of the walk in enough time to be helpful.
