Aldermaston to Thatcham via Scotland, 12 miles, moderate (BOOKING REQUIRED)

This will be a fast-paced 12 mile walk from Aldermaston Station to Thatcham via Bucklebury Common and Cold Ash.

This walk will be led by Emerson.

Advance booking is required for this walk, which is limited to 15 people. This is now handled by marking yourself as attending here on Meetup. Please do not turn up without booking your space by doing so, only sign up if you intend to come, and cancel in good time if you can no longer attend so that someone else can take your place.

Walk details

The walk starts by heading north towards Beenham and then through Bucklebury common. We'll then visit Cold Ash and walk through Thatcham to the train station. There will be a lunch and pub stop during the walk and optional pub stop at the end.

Travel details

By public transport

From Reading take the 10:12 train, arriving at 10:25. From Newbury take the 10:15 train, arriving at 10:28. The walk leader will be on the train from Newbury. We will meet on the north side of the station.

By car

Parking is available at both Thatcham and Aldermaston stations, where charges will probably apply. As this is a linear walk you will need to get a train either before the start or at the end depending on where you park.

• It might be muddy – please wear suitable footwear.
