Happy Hours in Hambleden, 4.5 miles, easy

Details
This 4.5-mile evening walk explores the peaceful valleys and beautiful woodland surrounding the village of Hambleden.
This walk will be led by Tom H.
Please see our website for more information about the group.
Pace: medium. Ascent: 113m.
Walk details
From the car park, we will head westwards across the fields, before turning north to follow the lane up the valley to Great Wood. There we will join Shakespeare’s Way for a short distance and climb the hill through the woods to descend into the Hambleden valley. Hambleden itself is a picture perfect ideal of the English village: we will first walk past the church before heading – if time permits – to the Stag and Huntsman pub. After that, we will walk down the valley back to the car park and bus stop.
Travel details
By public transport
Please travel on the 800 bus route, departing stop FC in Friar Street in central Reading at 17.45, if travelling by bus. The walk leader intends to travel on this bus, if it is delayed the start of the walk will be as well. The start point is around a five minute walk from a bus stop.
If you live in east Reading or Twyford, an alternative is to catch the 850 bus leaving Friar Street at 17.25 at your nearest stop – this arrives about 15 minutes ahead of the 800.
The last return bus from Mill End to Reading leaves at 22.02.
By car
Parking is available in the Mill End car park (charges apply). This is open 24 hours a day.
Notes
- Please contact the leader directly if you are delayed on the day or can't find the group (find contact details on our website). We are unlikely to respond to Meetup comments or messages sent on the day of the walk in enough time to be helpful.
