An evening stroll to the Cunning Man, 4.5 miles, easy

An evening walk from Reading along the Kennet and Avon Canal to the Cunning Man.

Walk details

The walk will head out to join the Kennet and Avon Canal by the Oracle before following it out of the Reading suburbs into the countryside south of Reading.

After passing a lock halfway and the Fobney Island Nature Reserve we will pass the many boats moored alongside the canal before reaching the Cunning Man riverside pub.

Travel details

By public transport

Reading is easily reached by many train and bus routes for the start of the walk. Reading Buses route 2 runs hourly at 48mins past each hour from outside the Cunning Man to Central Reading, to get back at the end of the walk.

By car

Multiple car parks are available in Reading town centre, where charges will apply. As this is a linear walk, you will need to take a bus back into Reading at the end.
