25 Miles for 25 Years, strenuous

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Berkshire Walkers, Georgia & Will are leading a 25 mile walk from Reading Station to Newbury along the Kennet & Avon Canal Path.

Although flat, please note that the length of this walk will be challenging (walking at a pace of 3 miles an hour) and it is advised that you carry supplies such as water, food and if the weather is hot, suncream.

Throughout the walk, there are potential drop out points at each station along the route, which offer train lines to both the Reading Station start point and Newbury Station end point.

If the group has to split due to a speed difference, any slower group that is not keeping up may be advised to stop at the next station to drop out.

Taking in views of the Canal, in hopefully some dry weather (this time), we will venture past some of the many walk starting stations that the group has used throughout the years.

With a couple of diversions to make up the 25 Miles, we aim to arrive in Newbury with some time for a small pub social at the end (subject to time and pace).

Those who do not wish to join the 25 Miles or only want to take part in a small section, can view Pickup Stations and timings below (please note, due to the strict timings, we are unable to wait for anyone who is late).

Start Time : 7am @ Reading Station

Pickup 1: 11- 11.30am @ Midgham Station ~ 12 miles remaining

Pickup 2: 12am @ Thatcham Station ~ 10 miles remaining

Planned lunch spot: Thatcham Nature Reserve ETA 1pm (20 mins stop).

Estimated End Time : 5-6pm @ Newbury
