Miles with Smiles: The Green Park Ramble, 5 miles, easy
Details
Join us for a relaxed 5-mile morning ramble that proves you don’t need to go far from Reading to find great scenery, good company, and a few laughs along the way!
We’ll set off from Reading Green Park Station, wandering through the leafy paths and open spaces of Green Park, before heading towards the local landmark that everyone knows — the recycling centre (don’t worry, we won’t hang around long — and hopefully the breeze is in our favour!).
From there, we continue over the Kennet and Avon Canal and follow part of the old Coley Branch Line — a disused railway where no trains have run since the 1980s, so it’s safe for even the most leisurely walkers among us!
The route leads on to Southcote, passing the charming Southcote Mill before rejoining the canal for a peaceful stretch alongside the water.
The final part of the walk takes us through woodland paths and along Cottage Lane, where we loop gently back to the station. Expect an easy-paced outing with plenty of smiles along the way, and perhaps even a coffee stop nearby once we’re done.
A cheerful Sunday wander full of fresh air, friendly faces, and those simple countryside moments that make you glad you got your boots on!
As this is only a short 5 mile walk there will be NO lunch stop but do bring snacks and something to drink with you. The paths maybe muddy so please wear sensible footwear.
