Today’s walk takes us through the Oxfordshire countryside, where we’ll be passing Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary. Starting at Cholsey station, we’ll head towards Millennium Wood before walking along the Roman Way, which will take us Brightwell-cum-Sotwell and Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary. At the latter of these, we’ll have an optional visit to here as well as taking our lunch stop here.

After lunch, we’ll head towards Brightwell Barrow and Wittenham Clumps, the latter of which offers some fantastic views of the Oxfordshire countryside on a clear day. After this, we’ll walk past Long Wittenham Wood to head into Didcot, where you walk through Ladywell to head towards Didcot Parkway station. For those who want a pint at this point, we’ll be stopping off at the Prince of Wales, which is opposite the station.

Ascent: 121m.

This walk will be led by Michael v..

Please see our website for more information about the group.

TRAINS:

The recommended train to get is the 10:25 GWR service that arrives in Cholsey at 10:41.

DRIVING:

Both Cholsey and Didcot Parkway have good sized car parks, where parking fees apply at both.

DOGS:

Dogs are allowed on this walk as long as they're well behaved. As we'll be passing a donkey sanctuary, it's strongly recommended that you keep them on a lead whilst we pass it.

Please contact the leader directly if you are delayed on the day or can't find the group (find contact details on our website). We are unlikely to respond to Meetup comments or messages sent on the day in enough time to be helpful.
