A pre-Easter Ramble around Penwood and The Chase, 9.3 miles, Moderate

Today’s walk will take us through the scenic and forested areas of Pen Wood and The Chase. Starting at Heathlands car park, we’ll head towards Penwood Heights to walk along it before turning off onto the footpath that takes us into Pen Wood. From here, we’ll follow the outer edge of it so that we follow the outer edge of it to the back road, which you cross over to follow towards Penwood Heights until we reach Foxs Lane. Once here, we’ll cross it towards Milford and Dunsmere Lakes to complete a loop of them before heading back towards Foxs Lane and Penwood. We plan to have lunch here, and this’ll also be the drop out point for those who just want to complete the first 5.9-mile loop.

For those who want to complete the second loop in The Chase, we’ll continue through Penwood to head towards Woolton Hill. Once in Woolton Hill, we’ll turn right onto Broadlayings to heads towards The Chase, where we’ll do an anti-clockwise loop of it before heading back to the road. From here, we’ll then head back along the same roads towards Heathlands car park to finish the walk. For those who want a pint during the walk, we’ll be stopping off at The Rampant Cat, which is located in Woolton Hill and about a mile from the end of the walk.

DRIVING:
Due to the lack of public transport to Penwood, the only way to get there is driving. The walk leader plans to start at the car park on Heathlands (Postcode: RG20 9HA), so please arrive with enough time to park up.

DOGS:
Dogs are welcome on this walk as long as they're well behaved.
