Today’s Berkshire Walkers social takes us into Windsor, where we’ll be having a boat trip on board one of the boats operated by French Brothers Ltd. During the trip, we’ll enjoy excellent views of Windsor Castle and Eton College, and after passing Windsor Racecourse, the boat passes through Boveney Lock and passes Sutherland Grange, The Willows and Bray Film Studios. The boat passes through Romney lock and continues through the private grounds of Windsor Castle before heading towards Datchet and the Albert bridge, where the boat then turns for the return journey. Please note, that there’s a limited cash only bar service available on board.

The organiser plans to get the 14:00 departure from Windsor Promenade, so please arrive at this location at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. This’ll make sure that you have enough time to buy tickets as well as having a prompt departure. Tickets cost £18.50 if you buy online, or £21 if you buy them on the day. If you’re interested in attending, please sign up via Meetup as well as buying a ticket via the link below. Please note, that the boat has limited places, so if you are interested in attending this social, please buy a ticket as soon as possible to avoid disappointment on the day.

N.B.: Just signing up on Meetup doesn’t guarantee you a spot on this trip. You’ll need to buy a ticket in order to board the boat.

If you’re travelling by train, it’s recommended that you make your way to Windsor & Eton Central, which is a 5-minute walk away from the promenade. The recommended train to get from Reading is the 12:43 GWR service that arrives in Slough at 13:02. This then gives you enough time to get the 13:10 GWR service that arrives at Windsor & Eton Central at 13:16. To get to the promenade, please follow the postcode SL4 1QX. Please note, that due to how busy and expensive it is to park in Windsor, it’s strongly recommended that you don’t drive and take the train instead.
