We're off to the seaside! Join the BWs for a leisurely stroll around Thorney Island.

Difficulty: Leisurely
Distance: 15.3km / 9.5mi
Ascent: 7m / 23ft
Type: circular

Walk details
Thorney Island is a quiet peninsula in West Sussex, home to an MoD base and a nature reserve, with a path that follows the coast with sandy beaches all the way around the island. We'll have to check in and out so the MoD can keep track of who is there!
We'll meet at Emsworth station at 10:35. From there we'll head south and walk anti-clockwise around the island path. We'll stop for lunch at Longmere point, at the southern tip of the island. We'll then head north back into Emsworth, and finish the walk in town. If people feel like it, we can find a pub after, or even fish and chips, if we stay late enough!

Travel by public transport
From Reading station, catch the 08:52 CrossCountry train which arrives into Southampton Central at 09:43. From there catch the 09:50 Southern train which arrives into Emsworth station at 10:34.

Return trains from Emsworth run at 14 and 44 minutes past the hour, every hour till late.

Travel by car
Google estimates Emsworth is just under 2 hours drive from Reading. There are only 3 spaces in Emsworth station car park, however, there are two bigger car parks at Palmer Road (PO10 7DL, RingGo says £5 for the day) and Bridge Road (PO10 7DW, charges apply).
