Exploring the Rural Charm of Mortimer & Burghfield, 8.5 miles, leisurely
Details
Join me for an enjoyable 8.5 mile countryside adventure as we explore some of the beautiful rural landscapes surrounding Mortimer and Burghfield.
Starting from Mortimer Station, we'll soon leave the hustle and bustle behind as we make our way towards Wheats Farm, enjoying peaceful paths and open countryside views. From there, we'll head onwards to Wokefield Common and through the heathland and woodland scenery of Burghfield Common, where nature is never far away.
Our route continues past Benhams Farm before leading us through the tranquil surroundings of Holdens Firs. We'll then skirt around the quieter edges of Mortimer, picking up part of St James' Way as we begin our journey back.
Along the way, we'll stop to enjoy our picnic lunches, giving everyone the chance to relax, refuel, and take in the scenery. As we near the end of the walk, we'll pass the beautiful St Mary's Church, one of Mortimer's most picturesque landmarks, before returning to Mortimer Station.
Expect a wonderful mix of woodland trails, open countryside, village charm, and great company on this scenic Berkshire ramble.
