The Sloughshank Redemption on the Grand Union Canal, 9.9 miles, moderate
Details
Today's semi-urban walk takes us along the Slough Arm of the Grand Union Canal between Slough and Hayes & Harlington. Starting at Slough station, we’ll follow the main road to where it meets canal, which we turn right onto to follow this until just after we walk under the M25. Just after this, we’ll loop around The Mets Lake and Thorney Weir Fishing Club Lake, which after completing, we’ll head towards the main Grand Union Canal. Once there, we’ll cross over on the bridge before following it to finish at Hayes & Harlington station. For those who want a pub stop at this point, we’ll be stopping at The Old Crown, which is close to the station.

TRAINS:
The recommended train to get from Reading is the 09:32 GWR service that arrives in Slough at 09:50.
DRIVING:
Slough station has a reasonable car park, where parking fees apply. Please note, that the car park is on the SOUTH side of the station, with the walk starting on the NORTH side of the station, so please leave enough time to park and walk across.
As this is a linear walk, you'll need to get an Elizabeth line service back from Hayes & Harlington back to Slough. These operate very regularly.

Dogs are allowed on this walk as long as they're well behaved. Please refer to our dogs policy for more information.
