Business Intelligence Folks Meetup - Volume 2

Details

Dear Business Intelligence Folks,

I am happy to announce that our next meetup will take place on June 28th, starting from 7 pm until around 9. Many thanks to WeWork Berlin (https://www.wework.com/de-DE/l/berlin) for kindly sponsoring the location and drinks for our next session.

We have planned two interesting presentations on Predictive Analytics and Semantic Analysis for you, both with a duration of max. 10 minutes and followed by a Q&A round.

After our presentations, you will have the chance to network and discuss any open questions you might have on Business Intelligence and related topics.

If you would like to present a topic of your own, or have any further suggestions regarding the content of our next meetup, we have reserved another timeslot for your ideas.

Please feel free to call me or drop me a message and I will get back to you immediately!

Kind regards,

Michael

Predictive Analytics: The future of Big Data

Predictive Analytics is currently one of the most discussed Big Data trends. To this point, Business Intelligence provides mainly a backward-looking view on Data - Predictive Analytics goes one step ahead and takes a look into the future.

Source data for Predictive includes not only company internal metrics, but also information about market developments and other external impacts. This way, the effects of managerial decisions on future business development become visible.

How Predictive Analytics works, and which potentials and fields of applications it offers, will be explained to you by Michael Schirra in his presentation.

Semantic Analysis and Ontologies, or how the Croatian city won't be turned into a banana-split

The semantic web was created with the idea to make data and explicit human knowledge available and readable for machines. Ontologies (structured domain models), hereby help to map the relationships between terminologies.

With this technology, computers shall be enabled to exchange denotations in a meaningful way, and thereby capture contexts of meaning. The goal is an intelligent relationship between data to retrievable knowledge and automated reasoning, which is also called "Artificial Intelligence".

An introduction to the subject of ontologies and semantic Analysis will be presented to you by Maciej Chodziakiewicz.
