This is our September meetup at the end of Berlin Blockchain week 2023.

Talks:

  • Joshua Dávila - How to radically build in crypto - Over the last decade, blockchains and crypto have opened up a new terrain for radical action. It is not surprising, however, that the crypto space has also become overrun by unscrupulous marketing, theft and scams. The problem is real, but it isn’t a new one. One of the major reasons is the way in which blockchain / crypto are framed through representational models of old models imposed on a new medium. This has been detrimental to the development of the technology and made it easily co-opted by nefarious forces. In this talk Joshua will talk about how this has happened, how to recognize it, and some proposals for what needs to be built to work against the current trends, some of which are covered in his book Blockchain Radicals.
  • Ori Shimony (dOrg) - New Directions for Mechanism Design description - Exploring new methodologies, use-cases, and experiments for solving coordination problems through cryptoeconomics
  • Juan Caballero (C.A.S.A.) - Lightning intro to Chain Agnostic Standards Alliance and the politics of non-monetary technical coordination channels
  • Alberto Granzotto (SDP) - Dark games for a bright future - Social Dist0rtion Protocol (SDP), a collective from the year 2055, has been developing games on the EVM since minus three decades. Our games have been played by hundreds of people at events like CCC, DevCon, and EthBerlin. Let's dive into our games and explore what worked and what didn't. (We also have some pro tips on how to upcycle a gnosis safe.)

After the talks we will have a fishbowl style fireside chat with all speakers and members of the Department of Decentralisation.
