Haiku Writing & Forest Bathing
Details
π Take a pause from the busyness of everyday life and join us for a relaxing and enjoyable session of haiku writing and forest bathing in the park.
βπ This event is for anyone who would like to slow down, connect with nature, spark their creativity, and experience a sense of calm. Whether you're a seasoned writer, a complete beginner, or simply curious to try something new, you are warmly welcome.
βπ³ Forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku, is the Japanese practice of slowing down and being mindful so that we become more connected with nature and with ourselves. The name is a bit misleading since we donβt go in the water; instead we immerse ourselves in Nature. And we donβt need to be in a forest either! Any patch of nature will do.
βπ A haiku is a 3-line poem, originating in Japan, that captures a moment of observation or insight, often inspired by nature. Its simplicity encourages us to notice small details that we might otherwise overlook.
βπ€ Haiku writing and forest bathing complement each other beautifully. Both invite us to slow down, observe carefully, and appreciate the world around us. Through mindful attention, we discover images, sounds, and experiences that can be transformed into vivid, meaningful poems.
β
During this session, we'll do a forest bathing practice, spend time in Nature, and experiment with writing our own haiku. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to relax, connect with others, express your creativity, and experience the pleasure of noticing the beauty in everyday moments.
βNo prior experience in forest bathing or poetry is needed. The emphasis is on exploration, enjoyment, and curiosity rather than getting things "right."
βCome along for a fun, welcoming, and inspiring experience in nature. Leave feeling refreshed, creative, and more connected to the present moment.
βπ§Ί What to bring
βAn open mind! Some snacks, fruit and drinks to share. A blanket to sit on. A note pad and pen.
