About Max Caskie, your instructor:
Max is a facilitator and improviser who believes story runs through (almost) everything we do. In his workshops, you’ll learn by playing, listening, building on each other’s ideas, and discovering the unexpected in the moment. He has been working with Colin Willox (of [@colin.does.improv](https://www.instagram.com/colin.does.improv/)) for several years, sharing the stage and thinking about how to open the world of improvisation to newcomers in welcoming ways. Since 2022 he’s also been performing with Scratch Theater alongside Robert Rodgers, Naomi Blakeslee (also of The Marbelles), and others, and is a regular in Berlin’s lively improv scene.
He has also worked with companies such as Hansgrohe and Siemens on narrative-led projects. On stage, however, his toughest decision is usually whether to appear as a secret agent, a squirrel, or both at once.
About Colin Willox, school director:
Over the last 10 years, Colin has guided hundreds of people through a unique improvisational theatre curriculum that builds skills in listening, empathy, collaboration, ideation, observation, creativity, storytelling and more -- for the stage and for life. His philosophy centres around truly *playing* with each other and leaning into what is found in the moment. If he was forced to choose between performing and teaching, he would choose teaching! Why? Because of how rewarding it is to see students discover hidden talents and skills in themselves through this art form—and because he keeps learning so much from them in return. He co-managed and taught at Scratch Theater for almost a decade, helping to grow it from a weekly meetup to full-fledged improv school, and is now building his own school. He also teaches for Die Gorillas, the Berliner Volkshochschule and LIBER.
Colin has been a regular on professional stages in Berlin and across Europe with The Marbelles, the Ratibor Theater's monthly live improvised sitcom, part of the Impro Embassy series, "!HOW CONVENIENT!" and the Scratch Theater company players. He has shared the stage with many people in the international scene, including: Lee White (CRUMBS), Joanna Jourdan (LIBER), Naomi Blakeslee (The Marbelles), Inbal Lori (Impro Embassy), Jacob Banigan (Rocket Sugar Factory), Naomi Snieckus (Second City Toronto), Björn Harras (Die Gorillas), Hank van der Steen (Troje), Antonio Vulpio (Teatro a Molla), Keng-Sam Chane Chick Té (La Bagasse) and Robert Rodgers (Scratch Theater).
Additionally, he takes part in shows and workshops that the lovely improv community in Berlin runs on a regular basis. Outside of the theatre world, he mixes his training as both a Designer and Anthropologist in the service innovation industry to help teams grow and build great things.
