Dear Book Enthusiasts,

For our December gathering — and the final meeting of the year — we’ll turn to Small Things Like These by the Irish author Claire Keegan, a quietly powerful novella that has captivated readers around the world.

Set in a small Irish town in the mid-1980s, the story follows coal merchant Bill Furlong as he makes his Christmas deliveries and encounters unsettling truths hidden behind convent walls. With spare, luminous prose, Keegan explores themes of compassion, moral courage, and the quiet acts of resistance that can change the course of a life — or a community.

📅 Date & Time: 14.12.2025 at 15:00
📍 Location: Cafe and Bar Knorke – Bötzowstraße 18, 10407 Berlin
💬 Fee: As always, a 3 € contribution after the meeting helps cover organization costs.

Let’s gather one last time this year to reflect on Keegan’s tender, wintry tale — a story of conscience, kindness, and the small gestures that matter most.

Warmly,
Sofya
