Azure Meetup Berlin @ The Digital Eatery - August 2017

Our next Meetup in August will be about Windows/ Azure Containers and Azure & Power BI and it will be held in The Digital Eatery at Unter den Linden 17 in Berlin.

Talk 1: Everybody Gets a Container!!! (60 min)
Docker containers are all the rage nowadays. We all heard of them - the marvelous new kid on the block which runs on Linux. But what about all of us Windows developers? You know… that OS with the four squares… Who run on Windows? Who LOVE Windows?? Enter Windows Containers. Windows containers are containers just like the Docker containers you know and love which work with the same Docker tools, but with one BIG difference - they run on Windows! In this one hour session I'll show you what are Windows Containers and how you can use them to easily package and deploy your Windows applications, services, IIS apps and Windows dependencies such as SQL Server to a Windows cluster using standard and familiar Docker tools.

Talk 2: Azure and Power BI - Why Power BI is the right tool for you (45 min)
In this session, Marcos will explore a few features of Power BI that can make your adoption easier. For example, analyzing data from one or multiple sources? How to efficiently share your dashboards? Free or Paid Power BI? These are common questions often asked and he hopes to have them all answered by the end of the presentation.

Currently working as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA at Zalando SE, Marcos has over 6 years of Database experience working from small to enterprise environments with High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Database Optimization, etc.. Holding several Microsoft certifications such as: MCITP DBA & DEV, MCSE Data Platform and his last certification on Microsoft Azure Design and Implement Cloud Data Platform Solutions. In 2013 Marcos was awarded as a Microsoft MVP by his contributions in the Brazilian SQL Server community where he is also the Chapter Leader for the Global Portuguese Virtual Chapter.
