The Teufelsberg in Berlin is an artificial hill built on the unfinished shell of the Nazi "Wehrtechnische Fakultät" (Wehr Technology Faculty), which began in 1937. After World War II, the site served as a dumping ground for 26 million cubic meters of rubble from 1950 onwards. In the 1960s, the US and Great Britain built a listening post on the summit, which was used to monitor the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War. After its closure in 1992, the site was used by artists and alternative groups and developed into a center for street art. Today, the Teufelsberg is a memorial reflecting the history of Berlin from the Nazi era through the Cold War to the present day.
We will meet at S Grunewald. The exact location will be posted as soon as I am there. The walk to Teufelsberg will take 35 minutes, then we have time to stroll around and visit the museum till 6 pm. Note: The entrance fee is 12 € for entering the area and for the museum.
Also, I would be happy for a donation of 1€ for organizing and paying the Meetup fee.
