Paid event: Tickets available at Pastiche International
Did you know that some of the most innovative and sustainable materials are inspired by nature? In this hands-on workshop, we'll dive into the world of biodesign by creating bioplastic yarn using alginate, a natural polymer derived from algae. We'll learn how to make the algae-based yarn from scratch and craft with it using traditional techniques such as knitting and crochet. We encourage you to bring your own crafting tools such as knitting needles, crochet hooks, mini looms or other. No requirements for chemistry knowledge are needed, and all materials will be provided.
About facilitators: Materials for Future is a collective and collaborative platform created by Guoda Treciokaite and Nina Canova. Together, they explore topics of regenerative design and innovative materials. They create articles, workshops and events around these topics for community building and knowledge sharing purpose.
