Web Audio Meetup #11 - Sonic Twenties

Details

A very special meetup edition featuring Paul Adenot, one of the current Web Audio API spec editors & a key Web Audio contributor from the Mozilla team! The first talk will touch heavily on theory and latest changes in Firefox, while Tim's will show us a practical implementation. Get ready to learn how to implement serious, performant audio applications on the web!

🦊 Paul Adenot: Introduction to lock-free programming on the web with AudioWorklet

AudioWorklet, in conjunction with SharedArrayBuffer, allow implementing cross thread communication between the main thread or a worker of a web browser, and the audio rendering thread that performs the computations on the audio signal. In this short talk, we'll see why this is important, and how to do it correctly, by implementing a few utilities that are the bread and butter of audio programming in native code.

🎹 Tim Daubenschütz: Building a web-ready synthesizer with WASM and C++

"WASM Synth" is a synthesizer built from scratch in C++ and made available on the web through WebAssembly and the AudioWorklet API. In his talk, Tim, a crypto currency dev in exile, tells his story of building a musical instrument for the web.
