19:00 - "I can't afford Databricks"
Speaker: Daniel Stevenson (TD Reply)
Abstract: At the start of most analytics projects, clients ask us about Databricks. Let's take a deep dive into managed Hadoop the AWS way: Elastic MapReduce. Against the backdrop of a real ETL and exploratory data analysis project, we will discuss the costs and benefits of EMR. Along the way, we will consider some 'best' practices, optimize performance and cost, and explore practical integrations with AWS services. In the end, we'll know some tips and tricks, and have some heuristics when deciding on AWS EMR as our managed Hadoop service.
