18:15 - 19:00 - Kostas Loupasakis of Delivery Hero // Switch Caching Backend From ElastiCache to DynamoDB

In an era where businesses strive to optimize performance while minimizing costs, this talk explores the advantages of using Amazon DynamoDB as a cost-effective caching backend to improve system performance, while comparing it directly with ElastiCache. Additionally, we will discuss critical metrics that must be considered when deciding on caching backends, such as scalability, latency, and pricing, and how we can use that knowledge to make the most well-informed choice for caching.

During this talk, we will explore the factors to consider when selecting a caching backend and how DynamoDB can be the optimal choice for our needs. We will also examine the impact of our caching strategy on cost and highlight the benefits of using AWS cost analysis tools to optimize caching solutions, maximizing savings. By the end of this presentation, attendees will have a deeper understanding of the reasoning behind choosing DynamoDB as a caching backend and will be better equipped to make informed decisions when optimizing their applications for cost and performance.

In this talk, Cristian will share his experience using ChatGPT for cloud-native software development over the past few months, which resulted in significant productivity gains.
He will discuss how he utilized ChatGPT to generate and refine code for cloud-native applications, troubleshoot issues, and the kinds of problems where it's a great fit.
He will also discuss some of the pitfalls he encountered while using ChatGPT and offer suggestions for mitigating them.
Cristian will also share many of the prompts he used and some of the outcomes he achieved with ChatGPT.
