Dear Community,

August is here, and we have an incredibly insightful session lined up for you! This month, we're thrilled to be hosted by Deloitte, providing a fantastic environment for our technical talks and networking.

Our session will feature two crucial topics that are at the forefront of modern data and infrastructure. Get ready to dive deep into data mesh governance and strategies for minimizing impact during global infrastructure upgrades! 😎

===================================================

Agenda:

18:30 - Doors Open & Networking
18:45 - Welcome & AWS UG Berlin Intro

19:00 - 19:40 - Amelisa Brari & Olga Woschitz // Empowering Data Mesh Governance with Amazon DataZone
This presentation explores the evolution of data platforms—from data warehouses to data lakes—and highlights why the data mesh has emerged as an alternative approach for scalable, flexible architectures. Learn how Amazon DataZone addresses the complexities of data governance in a data mesh, simplifying federated governance, enabling secure access control, and automating metadata management.

19:40 - 20:00 - Network break with snacks & drinks

20:00 - 20:40 - Heiko Rothe & Kevin Nandu // Data-Driven Infrastructure Upgrades: Minimizing Impact at Global Scale
With thousands of applications serving around 70 countries globally, the Platform Team at Delivery Hero cannot just hit the upgrade button after grabbing coffee in the morning. Upgrades should not affect our uptime - but what if they do? We need to make sure that any issues that do occur have the least possible impact on our global operations. In this session, discover how we built a data-driven scheduling algorithm that understands the context of each environment to upgrade, eliminating the need for manual intervention. Learn how this system powers thousands of monthly EKS cluster upgrades, maintaining high availability and reliability. We'll share practical insights on how you can adapt this concept to your own environment, regardless of its complexity.

20:40 - 21:00 - Closing Announcements & Further Networking
