Modern CMake && Effects of private methods

Details

Our June meetup will take place at The Place (The Place Berlin
Charlottenstraße 2 · Berlin) at Thursday 13.06.2019 18:30.

We have two exiting talks scheduled for our June meetup:

  1. Lars Melchior: Modern CMake and cross-platform dependency management for C++
    > CMake ist the de facto standard build system for C++ and can be used to build projects for virtually any platform. However, the syntax and inner workings of CMake still remain a mystery for many of its users. In this talk we will attempt to demystify CMake. We then shift our focus on the state of C++ dependency management and see if it’s possible to use CMake as a stand-alone cross-platform dependency manager for C++.

  2. Leandro Santiago: The effects of private methods on performance and design
    > Most of us have learned to use the private methods to hide behaviour in object oriented designs. In this talk I aim to discuss how the apparently harmless private keyword can impact negatively the performance and design of your program, as well as propose a way to fix some of such issues.

Agenda:
18:30 arrival
19:00 Greetings from "The Place"
19:05 Lars: Modern CMake and cross-platform dependency management for C++
19:30/45 Leandro: The effects of private methods on performance and design
20.30 move to the bar downstairs/socializing

We are looking forward to the event and to meet you there!
