Pace: About 20 km per hour (moderate pace)
Why have I never been to Bad Freienwalde? - it looks so nice. A spa town - with hills! - a viewing tower and a nice route along the finow canal close by.
This Sunday's cycle will take us there. Looping out from Bernau North Eastwards. 35km with our heads down and the wind at our backs (hopefully), will get us there for coffee and cake, a look at the Schloss and a climb up the viewing tower. After that we will go up to see the Oderberg Binnenschifffahrts (three 'f's in a row!) musuem and cruise along the Finow canal back to Eberwalde. Here people can get the train home after a 70k day or complete the loop to score the ton (100).
The Cycling
We are a not a racing bike group, but the pace is reasonable. Expect between 18 and 22 km per hour depending on who comes on the day.
Bring a good bike (doesn’t have to be special just in good order. All sports bikes can take part from tour bike, racers to mountain bikes. Heavy 3 speed city bikes would not be appropriate however).
What to Bring
Bring swim stuff, suncream, spare inner tube for your tyre size, cash, waterproofs
