Berlino Babel Improv

What happens when four languages meet on the same stage?
Berlino Babel is a multilingual improv theatre show where Italian, French, Spanish and German become part of the game.
The actors perform in pairs. When two actors are together, they speak their own shared language: an Italian-speaking pair speaks Italian, a French-speaking pair speaks French, a Spanish-speaking pair speaks Spanish, and a German-speaking pair speaks German.
But when actors from different pairs meet, they switch to English, the common language that connects them.
And then there is the bell.
At any moment, an actor can ring the bell and stop time.
When time stops, the actors step out of their characters and into the world of metatheatre. They can speak openly to each other — in English — to clarify what is happening, discuss the story, or figure out where to take the scene next.
Then the bell rings again, time starts, and they jump straight back into the story.
The result is a playful experiment in communication: four languages, different characters and perspectives, one shared stage. Sometimes everything is perfectly understood. Sometimes it gets wonderfully confusing. And sometimes a gesture, a look or an emotion says more than words ever could.
There is no script and no predetermined story. Everything is created live, in the moment.
