Let's hike from Trebbin through the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park and its open landscapes and many lakes!
The Nuthe-Nieplitz lowlands were formed about 20,000 years ago at the end of the ice age as an interfluve valley of the melting glaciers. Remnants of terminal moraines form smaller elevations in the meltwater valley, like the Glauer Berge, which stand out in the flat landscape with a height of about 90 meters and extend as a small "mountain range" over a length of four kilometers between the Blankensee and the Nuthe near Kleinbeuthen. Deep, typical Brandenburg sand forms the surface of the pine-covered mountains.
During the hike, we will visit the wildlife park "Wildgehege Glauer Tal".
We'll meet on Sunday at 9:36 at the start of the hike, at Trebbin railway station. From Berlin, you can reach Trebbin by RE4, which stops at Hauptbahnhof (9:02), Potsdamer Platz (9:05) and Südkreuz (9:14). From Trebbin, we'll hike westwards, cross the Löwendorfer Berge and walk towards Blankensee, where we will have a break. Then, we will visit the wildlife park (Entrance fee: 5 Euro). Afterwards, we will cross the Glauer Berge and hike back to Trebbin. From Trebbin we can take the RE4 back to Berlin. The RE4 leaves every hour at minute 16 (or similar) and takes about 30 minutes back to Berlin.
Important things to note:
- This is an average hike with a quite long distance. Thus, you should wear suitable shoes. Please expect some muddy ground here and there.
- Also, there will be mountains! Expect a height difference of about 200 meters.
- You are all responsible for yourself. None of us is mountain guide or something like that.
- There won't be too many Späties around, so have enough water and food with you.
