The area between Wolletzsee and Grimsitzsee is remarkably diverse. You will come across relics of the ice age, sand mines, the Grumsin forest
- a world nature heritage site - and the so called "Genusswanderweg", a hiking trail dedicated to local specialities. The landscape was shaped by the ice age. After the glaciers retracted, they left a hilly area spotted with lots of lakes of various sizes.

So, let's talke a walk there!

We'll meet on Saturday at 10:48 at Althüttendorf railway station (sometimes also spelled Alt-Hüttendorf). Althüttendorf can be directly reached from Berlin with the RB 63 train, which departs Berlin Gesundbrunnen at 9:58.

From Alt-Hüttendorf, we will walk....
- along the Grimnitzsee
- pass by the Ihlowberge, an former mine, which is now an educational site with lots of information about the geological history
- through the Grumsin forest
- the Louisenhof, a combined art atelier and cafe, where we hopefully have some coffe and cake
- the Wolletzsee

We will reach Angermünde after about 26 km. If you want to cut the hike short, you have the opportunity to catch a bus after about 15 km, right after the break at the Louisenhof.

From Angermüde, there are hourly trains back to Berlin.

Important things to note:

  • You are all responsible for yourself. None of us is mountain guide or something like that.
  • Be prepared for muddy or dusty ground, sunny weather and businesses that accept cash only.
  • There won't be too many Späties in the woods, so have enough water and food with you.
  • Please note that the number of participants is limited, because at a certain size a group gets virtually unmanageable. As the demand may be higher than the number of available spots, please be fair and only RSVP if you are sure that you can make it. If you learn later that you cannot take part, please update your RSVP accordingly.
