It's going to be a lovely day on Wednesday, so let's go to the northern outskirts of Berlin - where Berlin does not look like Berlin any more.

We'll meet on Wednesday at 18:42 at the tram stop Rosenthal Nord. That is the last stop of the M1 tram line. (Note that the M1 tram line has two branches: Only trams with "Rosenthal Nord" in the headsign will get you to the meeting point).

From there ...

  • ... we'll walk along the Berliner Mauerweg
  • ... walk along the local Heck cattle enclosure
  • ... visit the protected landscape "Niedermoorwiesen" with many meadows and old fruit trees
  • ... have a picnic at a sunset viewpoint above the Köppchensee, an old peat cutting, now an old idyllic lake.

If you cant make it for the 18:42 start, you can also take the M1 and then the 107 bus towards the stop Lübarser Weg to directly join us at the picnic spot, or on the way. If you want to do so, please let me know.

We will finish hour walk after dawn, and walk back to the bus stop Lübarser Weg, from where we can take the bus 107 which brings us back to the M1 tram. Alternatively, if some are up for it, we can also do a night hike back to Rosenthal-Nord and take the M1 from there.

Note:

  • Please be on time at the meeting point. The tram M1 arrives every 15 minutes there. It is also possible to reach the place by the M21 bus. But note that we'll meet at the tram stop which is not directly at the bus stop.
  • As we want to do a picnic, ideally bring some drinks and food with you. Even better for sharing!
  • You are all responsible for yourself.
  • While it is often possible to browse the landscape, please be responsible in the protected areas and do not disturb animals or plants.
