Recap of part 2 act 1.
The party makes their way to the old ranger lodge, now used by Rohkar’s raiders (bandits). They do a two-pronged attack with Juno and Zaur using stealth to sneak up to the lodge, while Gutrender, Ozzy, Walker, Arcelia, and Jaromir approach from the front. Ozzy, and Jaromir spot a trip wire on the main path that triggers some crossbows if hit, but the party once told can carefully cross over it. The party tries to parley with the bandits, but they just attack when they have the chance. The party starts battling with the bandits and they take some out allowing entrance into the house. Juno hits them with a color spray, and one of the thieves falls unconscious. About 20 seconds later some frost skeletons show up, and the battle gets harder. The party keeps attacking, and they soon learn that the skeletons explode dealing cold damage when they are killed. Most of the bandits are down now, but Zaur goes down when one of the skeletons explodes, and Walker goes down when the clerics on the balcony use a channel negative energy. The battle continues and the party takes more damage finishing off the bandits, and skeletons, then Gutrender, and Juno go down from another negative energy blast. Arcelia Jaromir and Ozzy finish off the last cleric, and the party quickly gets healing to the downed party members.
The party begins to investigate the rest of the lodge, they smell chicken soup coming from the kitchen, and coughing coming from the room off the great room. They begin to investigate the room, and after unlocking the door they find out it is barricaded with furniture. The party learns that the bandits are sick and are not sure how to handle the situation because they are sick, they do learn the cooks name is Ten-Penny. They move on to the kitchen to see who is doing the cooking, they hear a voice say, “I don’t want any trouble, I am just the cook”. Walker thinks from hearing the voice it is coming from a female half-Orc. She mentions to the party she is not with the bandits, just a cook and maid for them. She is willing to share the chicken soup with the party but also wants to feed the sick bandits. The party does learn that lady Argentea was taken by some icy creatures, but she does not know where. The party decides to leave her be and then goes to investigate the room on the second floor. Inside the room they find a map of the area on a table and soon hear a voice coming from the closet “help, let me out of here”. The party has a parley with the creature, never opening the door, they learn it’s a winter touched Sprite named Vrixx, that comes from Irrisen, and was captured by the bandits. Vrixx tells some truthful things, but also lies about some questions, or refuses to answer. After the frustration of Vrixx’s word salad Jaromir opens the door to intimidate the Sprite face to face. They discover Vrixx is locked in a bird cage, and has been badly beaten by the bandits, the party not knowing what to do with the Sprite decides to take Vrixx with them in the locked cage. The party also finds some treasure in the closet that belonged to the bandits bosses.
Having taken care of the immediate challenges, the party searches the rest of the lodge, they find some treasure in the bosses bedroom but pass on searching Ten-Penny’s room. They then searched the cellar where they were holding Lady Argentea, they find a hidden folded piece of a fine dress, it looks like the lady was here and was moved as ten-Penny said.
The party after much deliberation decides to kill the sick Bandits, only Walker disagrees, but does not interfere. Ozzy sends in a summoned creature to finish off the sick bandits and retrieve their goods.
The party decides to stay the night and rest at the lodge.
