Algorithm & Blues: AI Assurance and Regulations in Healthcare

Details

AI models and AI-powered products can drive groundbreaking technology advancements and detect medical conditions with unprecedented speed and accuracy. However, unlike other fields, mistakes in these outputs can cause direct harm to patients. Ensuring these systems are reliable and understandable is crucial in healthcare, allowing for proper audits in the event of errors. This talk will discuss the development of AI assurance frameworks, how regulators handle the constant evolution of AI-enabled products, and showcase tools designed to address these issues, including one developed to explain how deep learning models identify physiological signals: https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3394486.3403289.
