Prose Mechanics - Marcel Proust: A Sentence Like A Line

Details

Welcome to Prose Mechanics, a new and original course to improve the style of your prose and the power of your rhetoric.

In this session, we are going to look at one writer: Marcel Proust, who famously said he wanted to write a sentence like a line, and he did. We will explore a few of his most beautiful, sensuous sentences, and "look under the hood" to see the patterns and structures that allowed Proust to write such long, flowing sentences, the type which made him justly famous.

This session is suitable for those who

  • want to learn to read better to write better
  • want to experiment with writing longer more sophisticated sentences
  • want to flex their grammatical muscles

Bring a pen, paper, and a coffee and be prepared to read and write and share.

A link will be shared 15 minutes before we start.

It was one of the best workshops that I have ever done. It was an absolute pleasure and I learned a lot. The classes were always well-structured, engaging, and top-notch. Highly recomment it!
