Prose Mechanics - Session Three

Details

Welcome to Prose Mechanics, a new and original course to improve the style of your prose and the power of your rhetoric.

In session three, we will examine in much greater detail appositives, "one of the most versatile of syntactic structures, useful in almost any kind of writing to rename, define, exemplify, and clarify; add facts or details; compare, contrast and emphasize key ideas." Virgina Tufte, Artful Sentences: Syntax as Style

The creative use of appositives can create rhythm, texture, and cadence, letting us builder greater sophistication while exercising greater control to create more compelling, stylistic, beautiful sentences.

Each workshop in this series uses a progressive series of intuitive exercises to illuminate key points, before we write, share, and discuss our own writing.

A link will be shared with registered participants before we begin.

It was one of the best workshops that I have ever done. It was an absolute pleasure and I learned a lot. The classes were always well-structured, engaging, and top-notch. Highly recomment it!
