BRTD Book Club - June 2026 | "Bad Monkey" by Carl Hiaasen

Hello and, as always, a warm welcome to all our new BRTD members!👋🏼

We will be meeting the third weekend of the month this time. This does not give us as much time to read as usual, so I hope you find this one to be a page-turner!

Our next meeting will take place on Saturday, June 20th at 5:30PM at Le Parc Cafe inside the Coral Gables Country Club (997 N Greenway Dr, Coral Gables, FL 33134).

How It Works:
A month(ish) prior to the next meetup, I will create the next event and announce the book we will be reading.📖 These will generally be in the mystery and thriller genre, of course. If anyone has suggestions or a book they've been wanting to read or that they read and loved that they feel would be good for this group, please don't hesitate to let me know!

For those of you who haven't joined us before:
We order drinks/food, I will have some questions for you (love hearing your thoughts!), and the rest is a free-flowing discussion.

This month's read is "Bad Monkey" by Carl Hiaasen.

The Apple TV+ Original series from Ted Lasso Executive Producer Bill Lawrence and starring Vince Vaughn, praised as "a rollicking, darkly hilarious series that’s both compulsively watchable and plain old fun" (The Ringer) is based on the zany and sharp novel from "the funniest important writer in America" (Miami Herald).

"Andrew Yancy-late of the Miami Police and soon-to-be-late of the Monroe County sheriff's office-has a human arm in his freezer. There's a logical (Hiaasenian) explanation for that, but not for how and why it parted from its shadowy owner. Yancy thinks the boating-accident/shark-luncheon explanation is full of holes, and if he can prove murder, the sheriff might rescue him from his grisly Health Inspector gig (it's not called the roach patrol for nothing).
