Coptic Christmas Festivities
Details
Update: The event will take place on January 6th to attend Nativity Feast Eve in Queens.
On January 7, Coptic Orthodox communities celebrate Christmas (the Feast of the Nativity).
For our first Between Worlds Brooklyn gathering, we’ll experience this tradition together as a cultural and communal event.
We’ll start by meeting at the nearby Nomad Cafe to say hello, share a bit of context about the tradition, and walk over together to St. Mary & St. Antonios Coptic Orthodox Church. From there, we’ll attend the church festivities, which include sacred music, hymns, and a vibrant community atmosphere. Apparently, the celebrations last till around 11 pm but you're free to stay or leave at any time during the event of course!
This event is secular and cultural in approach. You don’t need to be religious, Christian, or familiar with Coptic traditions to attend. The focus is on music, ritual, history, and being present in a living cultural space.
